About our Church Family. The First United Methodist Church is a family oriented Church with a dynamic worship service that is open to persons of any religious background or to folks who are looking for a faith that tackles the hard questions of life with a timeless commitment to Christ. We are a Church that takes the Bible seriously. We are about making disciples. If this sounds interesting to you give us a try. For the early birds we have an 8:30 a.m. service in the Chapel. At the 10:00 a.m. service we fill the sanctuary friendly faces and great music, we can also provide a nursery . Our contemporary service, called Hope Café, takes place at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoons. We are a Church where ‘the lights are on every day and night’.
It won’t take long to discover that this is truly a family, rich in the relationships that matter most. When we are together on Sunday or throughout the week, we worship, we serve, we laugh, we cry, we learn, and we reach out to the world with the life transforming message of Jesus Christ.
Music. Originally, we were known as “the singing Methodists”. The nickname still applies to us today. Music is central to the life of worship and mission at FUMC. A song can often touch people in a way that a sermon cannot. From the youth choir for boys and girls; to an adult choir, there are many opportunities to “make joyful noise unto the Lord” from our bell choirs to GRASP!, our contemporary group. Our choirs have travelled to the National Cathedral in Washington, D as well as to the Rochester Cathedral in Rochester, England.

United Methodist Women (UMW). Meeting in both small groups called “Circles” and as a whole, the UMW provides continuing education, fellowship, and opportunities for service. The UMW annually sponsors a Christmas Fair – complete with an Attic Treasures Room, cookie walk, plant room, baked goods and carols from the choir. Supporting mission projects, elder care, kids who go to Camp Wanakee in Meredith, NH, the UMW is a vital and exciting resource at FUMC.
Education: From the tiniest baby to the oldest adult, FUMC works to provide sound educational opportunities for parishioners. A fine Sunday School staff and a committed team of adult education instructors continually provide enthusiastic and interesting programming that works to keep individuals on a path of personal spiritual growth.
Please join us for worship, everyone is Welcome!
Each Sunday we have three services, 8:30 AM (in the chapel), 10:00 AM (in the sanctuary, handicapped-accessible, childcare available, and Sunday school) and at 5:00 PM we have Hope Cafe, which is a fun informal service.
