From the bench...                                   (don't miss the photos at the end of this page)

What's next?  Well as we fondly look back on a busy year so far, we have much to go yet.  The choirs have been invited to participate in the Seacoast Cluster Choir Festival in Dover, NH on April 6th, and the Rochester Cathedral Boys Choir will be in residence with us from May 21st through May 28th, singing with us at our services, and giving concerts here and in churches in Manchester and Concord.  It has been 3 years since we have been visited by our sister city’s Cathedral musicians and they are exited to be coming here.

Many of the girls and the youth group have fond memories of the brief time spent with the Senior Girls of Rochester Cathedral on their visit with us in the autumn of 2005.  I am excited for our church family because of the potential it has to excite our own boys to be even more excited about what they do.

Rochester boys face the same issues that our boys do with regards to peer pressure, balancing school and choir, and time spent at church (Cathedral).  They can learn a lot from each other as Anthony DeVito can attest.  At a point in time when our kids face increasing pressures that compete for participation in church-related activities, meeting kids who participate everyday in the life of the church can have a great impact on our own approach.

As always, it isn’t too late to join one of the choirs.  They are all part of the overall Christian Education continually needed to nourish the individual and maintain the daily presence of our church in the community.  Joining at his point in the church year, you still have plenty of time to acclimate to the pace, and the fellowship, and the witness that the choir provides.
